Jobs at Iguana2
Front End Developer/Designer role
We're looking for a smart, enthusiastic Front End Developer to join our small Sydney based team. You'll play a pivotal role in developing highly interactive websites and applications for the financial services industry (Equity Markets)
Essential skills
- Expert Javascript, HTML and CSS skills
- Experience with major Javascript frameworks, particularly jQuery
- Ability to write your own elegant, clean Javascript code from scratch. You're no cut and paste programmer
- Ability to work with our own internal and third party API's using AJAX/JSON and XML
- Intermediate level graphic design skills with a penchant for simple, minimalistic Web 2 aesthetic
- Appreciate and know how to pull off good UI/UX
Bonus points for any of the following experience/knowledge *
- node.js
- HTML5
- WebSocket
- Experience developing for mobile platforms
- Knowledge of financial markets, particularly equity markets
* If you don't have these skills then you should be excited about having the opportunity to learn them
What you'll be doing
- Developing dynamic content rich websites with heavy javascript use
- You'll work within a small team designing and coding entire websites (our own and client sites) from concept through to delivery. You'll be responsible for the front end presentation and user interactions
- Contribute towards the development of our own API's
- Contribute and implement ideas for new tools/interactions on the front end
- Playing a major role in revitalizing our web strategy
Environment
- Relaxed work environment in Sydney CBD location
- Outcome focused approach to work with flexible work hours available
- Pick your own development environment and tools. Mac/PC/Linux, we're easy
- Although we don't consciously follow any development methodology Agile probably best describes how we work. Prototyping over fat functional specs, write elegant readable code rather than documentation, iterate until it's right, regular involvement from stake holders
- We've purposefully kept our company small. You'll be working closely with the founders and shareholders of the company
- Freedom and encouragement to explore new technologies
About you
- You have a genuine passion for web development and design
- You're one of those rare beasts that can write great code but also can push pixels around with your graphic tool of choice
- You must be a self starter and be able to work independently. You'll receive guidance and direction but then be expected to grasp concepts and requirements quickly and get on with it
- You may have a relevant IT degree, and this would be nice, but we're more interested what you've produced and worked on previously. Show us a great portfolio as this will impress us the most
- You could be a highly competent junior developer with some commercial experience and looking for the next step in your career. You might be a recent grad looking for a challenging role
- You have excellent written and spoken communications skills
- You're comfortable or even want to focus on single industry vertical. This is not a typical "agency" type job where you'll work on varred projects. Over time you'll become a domain expert in financial/stock market data
Compensation
- Salary negotiated based on experience and skills
